Octopus Capital, an asset manager investing in the people, ideas, and industries that will change the world, today announces it has strengthened its presence in Spain. Rodrigo Cortes has been appointed to work with Octopus Capital’s Client Group and Real Estate Management Committee as Head of Client Partnerships – European Growth.
Reporting into Head of Spain, Cristina Pérez Liz, Rodrigo’s role will be centred on building relationships with capital partners and clients across EMEA for all Octopus Capital’s investment strategies, of which Senior Living and Affordable Housing in Spain will be a key initial focus.
Rodrigo has over 19 years of experience in the financial and real estate sectors. He started his career at Goldman Sachs in London, where he spent 13 years in both the M&A team and the Equity Capital Markets team. Following his relocation to Madrid, Rodrigo joined Azora Capital as Head of Fundraising and Client Development, followed by a role as Managing Director at Tishman Speyer, responsible for the firm’s capital partner relationships across the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Southern Europe and Israel. Most recently, Rodrigo was Head of Real Estate at AA Advisors, a global private placement firm.
This follows the launch of Octopus Capital last month, which outlined the European growth ambitions of the business as well as highlighting real estate as a key pillar of the business’ investment strategy.
Cristina Pérez Liz, Head of Spain:
“We’re excited to be expanding our on-the-ground presence in Spain as we look to increase our reach with institutional investors worldwide – from pension funds and insurers to private wealth clients. Rodrigo’s experience will be invaluable as we continue strengthening our real estate capabilities and long-term partnerships across Europe.”
Rodrigo Cortes, Head of Client Partnerships – European Growth:
“It’s great to be working with the team at Octopus Capital at the beginning of this new chapter for the business. We have the opportunity in both Spain, the UK and beyond to challenge the status quo and drive meaningful change by helping global institutional investors deploy capital with purpose – and without compromise.”
