Housing Secretary Launches World’s Largest Zero Bills Development

The Right Hon. Steve Reed, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, visited Carpenters Yard, a landmark new neighbourhood comprising 113 market-leading sustainable homes in Thornwood, Epping Forest to mark the formal launch of the world’s largest community microgrid.

‘Zero bills’ homes praised by housing secretary

Coverage in the BBC: Octopus Capital funded the developers GS8 through its "Greener Homes Alliance" scheme, to build 113 homes in Epping, Essex. Through partnership with Octopus Energy, all the homes, 35 of which are Octopus Capital affordable homes, are 'Zero Bills’, meaning residents will have no energy bills for or a minimum of five to ten years.
